The King of Day and the Queen of Night once fell madly in love and decided to unite. However, their love lasted very little; she was made of lies and malice, while he was made of truth and kindness; she wanted to rule with darkness, while he with light. How could they possibly match? So, they separated, and their great love transformed into hatred. A few months later, the dark queen brought into the world a beautiful little girl, Pamina, to whom she never revealed who her father was. When the King of Day found out, he darkened. He wanted to take her with him. He feared that Pamina, living next to her mother, would take on her bad character traits. So, one day he stole her and had her guarded in a beautiful tower. But the Queen of Night became furious. She darkened the sky even more and extinguished all the stars.
