Everything you need to know to play
Players are divided into two teams. In each round, one player (the describer) takes a card that contains a target word and a list of five forbidden words (Taboo). The goal is to get their team to guess the target word within the time of the hourglass, without using any of the forbidden words, parts of them, or derivatives.
A player from the opposing team stands next to the describer holding the buzzer. If the describer accidentally uses a forbidden word or makes a gesture (pantomime), the opponent presses the buzzer and the card is canceled. For each word the team guesses correctly, they earn one point. If the describer is struggling, they can pass, but then the point goes to the opposing team. The winning team is the one that collects the most points after an agreed number of rounds.
