In this work, you will encounter something I call vampires; dead conversations that, however, return after death, preventing a person from living their life as they wish.
In the late 19th century, in a fjord of the Norwegian countryside, Mrs. Alving is preparing to inaugurate an orphanage in memory of her husband and to welcome her only son, an emerging painter, who has been living abroad. Also arriving in the town is Pastor Manders, an old friend of Mrs. Alving, to whom she reveals the truth about her life and her husband, otherwise a respectable member of the local community, Captain Alving.
Vampires! The couple of the shed... has vampirized! exclaims Mrs. Alving at the end of the first act, seeing her son flirt with Regina, just as the captain used to do with her mother. Ultimately, it is not only Mrs. Alving who confesses the truth about the past, but her son also reveals the reason for his return to his parental home; he is tormented by a severe illness and therefore seeks her help to commit suicide.
