Description

The author has a long-standing background in European affairs, both with his active participation in the negotiations for our accession to the EEC and with his tenure as a senior official of the European Commission in Brussels.

In the book, he first presents what Greece was like in 1950, when Robert Schuman made the historic declaration that led to the creation of the EEC, and how Greece chose the EEC over the EFTA (European Free Trade Association) that was promoted by England. This was followed by the application for association and then the application for accession.

The author recounts the course of the negotiations, highlighting the most significant problems that arose, as well as how they were addressed. He also shares his experience as an official of the European Commission.

Finally, he presents his thoughts on the current crisis of the Eurozone and the anticipated path towards economic and political integration. Regarding our country's economic crisis, he offers an interesting approach to the causes that led to it and the expectations for addressing it.
