This research analyzes and examines the ways and means used by the author to highlight social issues, methods that ultimately transform comedy into tragicomedy.
The first part of the study discusses the life and works of Friedrich Dürrenmatt, his influences, his position in German-speaking, as well as global literature, and the fundamental principles that govern his works both morphologically and semantically. Special emphasis is placed on the choice of comedy as a means of highlighting timeless social issues.
The second part provides a systematic study of the author's plays, focusing mainly on the ways in which comedy is transformed into tragicomedy and the ideological purposes that Dürrenmatt attempts to highlight each time.
The third part of the research comparatively analyzes the author's works based on the key axes that emerge from his overall oeuvre.
