Digestive enzymes are produced in the gastrointestinal system and contribute to the breakdown of food into its individual nutrients. Abnormal production and function of digestive enzymes (as naturally occurs with increasing age) is accompanied by insufficient digestion and absorption of nutrients.
The food residues that are not absorbed remain in the lumen of the large intestine, where they undergo fermentation by the bacteria of the intestinal flora, causing gas production, a feeling of fullness, and diarrhea.
Lamberts® Digestizyme® provides a wide range of plant enzymes, which contribute to the digestion of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.
Plant-derived enzymes: are of high quality, characterized by significantly reduced risk of contamination (compared to animal-derived enzymes), characterized by high bioavailability, have a significantly reduced risk of causing hypersensitivity reactions and gastrointestinal disorders.
It is worth noting that the enzymes selected in Digestizyme are characterized by increased resistance to gastric acidity, thus managing to reach the small intestine intact, where the majority of digestion takes place.
