Clearly five stars. I use it casually with TOTAL knives. It doesn't burn, it's ergonomic, the cuts are effortless, and overall it gives you the feeling of a truly good purchase. Excellent.

Very good tool. Very good build quality, even for the accessories in the package, sturdy on/off switch, soft cable, precise depth adjustment, satisfactory motor for the job, 6mm collar but also available as an extra in 6.35mm.

If I struggle to find any negatives, they would be the lack of speed adjustment and the plastic base. The lack of speed adjustment means that only very good blades should be used because on one hand, the wood burns from the high speeds with cheaper ones, and on the other hand, cheaper blades, especially those with bearings, may not be calibrated for the high speeds.

The plastic base is not bad at all but it definitely does not give the feeling of durability that you expect from a professional-grade tool.

A note about the price: I bought the machine from a discount store at a price 40% lower than the price offered by official resellers. Even lower than the price of the equivalent tool from Makita's orange "amateur" series. I suspect it is an import. It is not illegal and it doesn't bother me at all. This means that the 2-year warranty process is likely to be more difficult and some potential bonuses from the Greek distributor may be lost, such as a one-year warranty extension. I did my calculations and found that it benefits me. Someone else may weigh the pros and cons differently.
