It is better than the Shure sm 58 as it has more detail in the mid and high frequencies compared to the sm 58 which produces a "muffled" sound and has lower output. As for handheld noise, it is at the same levels as the sm 58

    I used it live.
Compared to the Shure PGA58, it is better for male vocals as you feel more supported in difficult situations without being exposed.
For its price, it is a very good microphone from AKG!

I was looking for something to replace my USB condenser microphone (blue snowball) and improve my speech (podcasts, let's plays) mainly in terms of noise, and I am very satisfied so far.

The akg d5 doesn't pick up any background noise (crying child, woman banging dishes, etc.) at all, and if you adjust it correctly, there is almost no hiss. I don't even need to put cushions around it to absorb the echo. Compared to my condenser microphone, it doesn't lack in volume at all (!) and only slightly in the highs (reaching 20khz).

I have paired it with a cheap mixer (behringet usb) and a cheap stand (bespeco sh12ne), and recording is now a pleasure!
