What the previous reviewers said. It works in Single mode. In either of the two RAID modes, after some time it freezes, the operating system doesn't recognize it, and you lose everything. I've tried it in both Raid1 and Raid0. In both cases, after some time, it crashes! In single mode, it works for months without any problems. (I had another identical one from before without ever putting it in RAID).

UPDATE: One week after receiving it: There is a possibility that it has an issue with an old model of a specific brand of drives I had, because I put in a pair of the same capacity from another company, also old, in RAID0 and it's been running for about a week now without any issues. If something goes wrong, I'll update, but I don't think so, I've really pushed them to be sure. I'll add a star temporarily.

UPDATE: 1 year later. If you want it for two single drives to work separately, get it, it works flawlessly. For RAID, go for something else, this is a joke! I'm leaving the three stars because in single mode it works 24/7 without any issues. For RAID, people laugh at those of us who bought it and we cry.

  • Beautiful case and it seems well made, but its controller is partially incompatible at least with Debian which I am using: if the full SMART check is enabled (smartctl -a if I remember correctly), it hangs and needs to be shut down to recover.

I won't start the same things - the previous one covered it in their description. It simply doesn't do its job.

To work the Raid needs a long time to reset and after 2 weeks of copying and storing my files from 6 scattered disks to organize them in Mirror (raid 1), it crashed and didn't recognize the disk, and I lost almost all my files... (fortunately, I still had most of them, even though some were rushed to be formatted...). Generally, there is no way for it to shut down safely on its own when you finish using it... you simply have to completely shut down the computer, not just Sleep, wait for a while for the lights on the device to stop, and then turn it off from the switch... the issue is that it's not clear when it stops, even if I leave it with the computer off for 1 hour... The issue is that even though it's Raid Mirror 1, the files were lost and some won't come back... I gave it a second chance and connected its power supply to a UPS to have a stable power supply, but I experienced the same problem again, as soon as it worked continuously for more than 8 hours, it disconnected on its own without reason and then couldn't see the files again... AVOID!!!

Good for its price, as long as its speed is sufficient for you.
