The articles in this volume are the product of the work of a group that operates collectively in the form of a workshop and aims to develop "Critical Interdisciplinarity" with annual publications.
The group's goal is to contribute to a critical dialogue between various fields of knowledge, resulting not only in the exchange of ideas and methods but also in the revision of sciences and their interrelations within a new framework of organization and supervision, where the central focus is the human being.
This effort is not a utopian aspiration but an urgent necessity of contemporary conditions. At a time which many consider to be on the brink of postmodernism, and where the sense that we are undergoing a general cultural crisis has become commonplace, it is imperative to reassess the dialectic between knowledge and society, and to strengthen the reorganization of sciences in the direction of social reflection.
Moreover, it is well known that, despite proclamations for the purity and objectivity of scientific knowledge, it is already under intense political pressure to serve purposes detrimental to humanity: chemical and biological weapons, technology for controlling personal life, etc.
An interdisciplinary perspective that addresses the objective world in dialectical dependence on the subject of knowledge, the human being, necessarily employs critical reflection. At the same time, it is compelled to approach the perspective of the Other and to transcend the boundaries of our culture to gain the capacity for intervention in our cultural categories, with the aim of human emancipation.
According to the framework outlined above in which the effort of critical interdisciplinarity is defined, there arises the need to prioritize the problem of methodology. The articles in the first part of the volume and the exploration of the field of cultural resistances in the second part aim to address this issue.
