Description & Specifications

Many have been written about War and Peace and perhaps for this reason, one might think: What remains to be said about this novel? However, every time it is read, new readers add or take away, depending on the atmosphere of their time, and blend it with their present days.

Undoubtedly, the stance taken by its author during the war was unprecedented at that time. Tolstoy, in presenting the war, denies it. There are few occasions where one might notice any zero idealistic slip of his pen. And yes, he admires heroism; he openly and generously proclaims it himself, yet he also sees the war from the other, pragmatic side. There are more denials encountered in his text than affirmations.

`War is a completely contradictory fact to human reason` he proclaims in the third part of his book. `War is a dirty business` says somewhere else the hero Andrei Bolkonsky. The objections, differences, and warfare often prove the opposite of a position. This book, since it was first published until now, has continued to evoke the most opposite emotions and judgments.
