Saint Nektarios was born in eastern Thrace in 1846. He drank the cup of sorrows when he was slandered with unjust accusations against the elder Patriarch Sophronius, resulting in his exile from Alexandria. Upon arriving in Greece, he was appointed preacher in Kymi of Evia and in Lamia. He spent the last years of his life in Aegina, where he founded the Monastery of the Holy Trinity. Numerous miracles occur daily through the intercessions of the Saint. The memory of the Saint is celebrated on November 9th.
The Ecclesiastical School of Athens (Rizarios) invited him to teach the future priests of Greece, and for 12 years he was a teacher of our Orthodoxy.
