“This study involved the analysis and evaluation of the factors influencing the teaching methods and techniques of secondary education teachers in schools today, specifically focusing on students attending General High Schools.
For this purpose, quantitative research was conducted using a structured questionnaire that was distributed in printed form. A total of 104 General High School teachers from Kavala participated in this research from 15/09/2018 to 10/10/2018.
The research showed that the factor of gender affects the participants' responses regarding the selection of teaching methods and techniques, in terms of developing new skills and new knowledge within the scope of their work and the identification and classification of elements of new knowledge as well as the prior knowledge of students.
On the other hand, the factor of specialization influences the responses regarding the selection of teaching methods and techniques, to questions concerning the number of students in the class, the available teaching time for the thematic unit, the opportunity for the development of independent thinking, expression, and initiatives for students, the preparation of students to receive new knowledge, e.g., through the recall of relevant knowledge, guided work with the help of small examples related to prior and new knowledge, the assessment of achieving learning goals and objectives, etc.
The research indicated that the factor of experience influences the responses of educators concerning the selection of teaching methods and techniques regarding the thematic unit they need to teach, the willingness of students to express and exchange their opinions, and finally, the application of new knowledge in conjunction with the prior knowledge of students and other knowledge.”
