Description

Description

"In «Low Flights», Arkas invented a wonder child with a diabolical spirit of questioning and an anarchic disposition to level everything. His first and easy target is the sparrow dad, emotionally shattered by the betrayal and departure of his wife, but also a devoted follower of every petty bourgeois value. «Low Flights» take place on miserable rooftops, on the cornices of dilapidated neoclassical buildings, on chimneys and toothless TV antennas, next to laundry rooms and solar water heaters. It is Athens and not Cloudcuckooland. It is today's Athens – somewhere we recognize its concrete tower. Birds no longer live in nature since the forest is a symbolic, prefabricated "place". The little one, in turn, hates the forest. "The fresh air of the forest greatly aids growth," insists his dad nonetheless. "Tell that to the seven dwarfs," is the merciless response of the little one." Manos Stefanidis
