Title: Dior and His Decorators
"Dior and His Decorators" is the first work that explores the two interior designers closely associated with Christian Dior. Like Dior's unmistakably luxurious creations of the New Look, the interior designs of Victor Grandpierre and Georges Geffroy offered a world weary of war a new luxurious aesthetic — a combination of refined traditions from the past with a completely modern sense of elegance.
Author Maureen Footer recounts the lives and work of this influential trio, enriched with a collection of characteristic vintage photographs. Grandpierre designed Dior's first couture house, creating not only the elegantly restrained look of the salons but also the blueprint for the Dior brand, including the typeface, logo, and packaging.
Grandpierre and Geffroy (who worked independently) also designed the interiors of Dior's residence. After the couturier's early death in 1957, Grandpierre and Geffroy continued to design salons for other couturiers, as well as homes for figures such as Yves Saint Laurent, Marcel Rochas, Gloria Guinness, Daisy Fellowes, and Maria Callas.
