The Mountain Giants, along with the works The New Colony and Lazarus, make up the so-called Trilogy of Myths. The work The New Colony touches upon the social myth, Lazarus on the religious, and The Mountain Giants on the myth of art.

Imagination in the hands of Pirandello does not oppose structure but imparts a haunting character to the work. Sarcasm, once again, does not harm the poetic quality of the work and is found, albeit subtly, moving through its most melancholic tones.
