The B+W HTC KSM MRC nano Master 49mm polarizing photographic filter belongs to the Premium series and replaces the previous XS-PRO Digital. It is made from Schott optical glass and high-quality polarizing film, with polishing and sealing to protect against moisture.
The rotating, slim brass mount facilitates polarization adjustment and features a front thread for additional filter or accessory attachments. The matte black coating reduces unwanted reflections.
The MRC nano coatings consist of 14 anti-reflective layers and 2 protective nano layers, providing high light transmission with minimal aperture loss and resistance to water, humidity, dust, dirt, and scratches. The reduced water and vapor adhesion on the surface makes cleaning with a soft cloth easier.
The filter reduces reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass, enhances color intensity and contrast, and can darken the sky. The effect is controlled by rotating the mount and is visible in the camera’s viewfinder.
When using other filters, it is recommended to place this filter closest to the lens. No vignetting is expected with focal lengths from 17mm for full-frame cameras and from 10mm for APS-C cameras.
