Braided sinking ropes made of polyester. They are very strong, almost as strong as nylon, and additionally have the advantage that they do not lose their strength when wet. They have high resistance to friction, UV rays, heat, and common chemicals. Due to their composition of polyester, they do not have much elasticity and are therefore considered ideal for applications where light tension is required but good handling properties. They are very popular as a marine rope in shipping, sailing for mooring and rigging of small boats, fishing, where elasticity is not particularly desirable. They are also used for household and agricultural work, camping, and in the industry.
