As for the product:
It has lasted 8-9 months and shows no signs of wear.
The replacement parts need to be changed sooner than the manufacturer suggests (at least for 2 cats), which means additional cost.
The water definitely needs to be changed every 2-3 days, while I think the recommendation is once a week.
Cleaning needs to be thorough and you need to be vigilant because the filter (I think) releases a substance that dirties the water and clogs the machine.
I wouldn't call it silent, but it doesn't make much noise either.
Since this is my first fountain, I would say it's worth the money as it achieved its goal, which was to get the cats to drink more.
