Description

And indeed what made the Scientists gain ground against Theology during the Great "Conflict between Religion and Science" was precisely their argument that neither the identity of substance nor the triple individuality - which had been conceived, invented, and shaped in the depths of theological consciousness - could ever be proven by any inductive logical process and much less by the testimony of our senses. Religion must be lost, it had been said, because it teaches mysteries. Mystery is the denial of Common Sense and Science rejects it. According to metaphysics, it is fantasy, just like poetry. The man of Science takes nothing for granted.
