In every age, the word of the Gospel is sown by the Lord in the hearts of people. In those where it finds good soil, it bears abundant fruit, and this will continue until the end, when the heavenly Farmer will perform the harvest.

Beyond the virtues and holiness, the word of the Gospel also bears fruit through the overflow of the enlightened mind and the sanctified heart of the holy Fathers and teachers. This treasure of Patristic discourse has been accumulated for centuries, transcending temporal and geographical boundaries, and has been preserved in "Patristic" books: in the writings of the Fathers, in the lives of Saints and Martyrs, in the narratives and sayings of the holy ones of the desert - in traditional readings of the Orthodox through the ages.

From this immense heritage, this collection, known as "Euergetinos," was compiled by the monk Paul.
