    First of all, it is a sealant, specifically one could say "Liquid Teflon".
    I have used this type and this specific brand, Permatex, quite a bit and I can assure you that it will seal and not dry out over time.
    It is also suitable for oil tanks.
    Wherever you would use Teflon tape, you can use this, there is no fear and the result is guaranteed.
