The global philosophical literature showcases numerous works that are paradoxical or enigmatic, which have often puzzled their readers regarding their exact content or true aim.

However, none of these works have reached the level of paradox and enigma of Plato's Parmenides, a dialogue with notable peculiarities regarding its structure and development, as well as the almost insurmountable difficulties that the reader is called to overcome in order to sufficiently understand its content.

Although it has been one of the most widely read works of the author from antiquity to the present day, it continues to be a field of intense and radical debate concerning its character, its philosophical significance, and its place within the author's total body of work.
