Purchased as an upgrade for an AM4 system that had an R5 1600.
Double the multicore performance at stock, and with a simple overclock the 5700x can easily reach and surpass some more expensive models of the same series.
Avoid the 5700 and 5700G, both are 16MB cache parts and lag behind in various uses while being very close in price to the 5700X. The 5800X is essentially the same as the 5700X but factory clocks higher, the difference between the two in games is minimal, unlike the 5700/5700G.
I'll also mention the old motherboard, it's a b450 from 2018, needed 2 consecutive bios updates according to the manufacturer's instructions, it was my first time doing a bios update and I had no issues, 15-minute process, half an hour if you count reading the instructions.
Unfortunately, in 2026 I still can't tell someone to avoid AM4 even for a new system due to RAM prices; for systems costing 1000-1500€, maybe a bit more, AM4/DDR4 is an acceptable choice. On AM4, the 5700X is one of the best solutions available, the 5700X is more than worth it at 120-150€ (I got mine tray for 110€). If someone goes for AM4, I 100% recommend the 5700X.
Easily 4.65Ghz, that's about the speed it reaches on its own for one or two cores, without overclock under heavy load it stabilized around 3.8-3.9Ghz due to the 65W TDP. At 4.65Ghz I've seen 100-110W and 82C after hours of stress with the Arctic Freezer 36.
In the image below you can see the difference between stock/overclock, in Cinebench R23 from 12828 to 15164 (19% improvement).
I've been using it for 9 months, I can't compare it to the old one in games because I also changed the graphics card at the same time. In Blender VSE, however, the difference is huge for 1440p editing, not only can it do 1440p/60fps realtime playback but also 1440p/120fps, you need to add a lot for lag to start. Night and day compared to the old CPU (r5 1600). I also use it in Handbrake for re-encoding and it blasts through everything! 39-minute 1440p60fps video from AV1 to AVC@22RF in 20 minutes.
In the second image you can see the performance in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 in the area with the most NPCs, the 5700X at 4.65Ghz reaches about 60% load, which means a six-core processor like the 5600 would be at its limits in such a situation with 90%+ utilization.
Another big difference from the old processor is that the 5700X, even during stress test/rendering, responds 100% to simple use like browsing/file transfer and can even run heavy games with a noticeable drop in performance (e.g. KCD2 during a long render).

Αποφύγετε τους 5700 και 5700G, και οι δύο είναι 16MB cache κομμάτια και υστερούν σε διάφορες χρήσεις ενώ είναι πολύ κοντά σε τιμή με τον 5700X. Ο 5800X είναι στην ουσία το ίδιο με τον 5700X αλλά εργοστασιακά ανεβάζει μεγαλύτερες ταχύτητες, η διαφορά των δύο σε παιχνίδια είναι ελάχιστη σε αντίθεση με 5700/5700G.
Θα αναφερθώ και στην παλιά μητρική, είναι μία b450 από το 2018, χρειαστήκαν 2 bios update απανωτά βάση των οδηγιών του κατασκευαστή, ήταν η πρώτη φορά που έκανα bios update και δεν αντιμετώπισα κανένα θέμα, 15 λεπτά διαδικασία, μισή ώρα αν μετράμε και την ανάγνωση των οδηγιών.
Δυστυχώς εν έτη 2026 δεν μπορώ να πω σε κάποιον να αποφύγει AM4 ακόμα και για καινούριο σύστημα λόγω των τιμών σε RAM, για συστήματα 1000-1500€, μπορεί και λίγο παραπάνω η AM4/DDR4 είναι αποδεκτή επιλογή, σε AM4 ο 5700X είναι μία από τις καλύτερες λύσεις που υπάρχουν, ο 5700X αξίζει και με το παραπάνω στα 120-150€ (εγώ πήρα τον δικό μου tray στα 110€). Αν κάποιος καταφύγει σε AM4 100% συνιστώ τον 5700X.
Ευκολότατα 4.65Ghz, αυτή είναι περίπου η ταχύτητα που φτάνει και μόνος του για έναν η δύο πυρήνες, χωρίς overclock σε βαρύ φορτίο σταθεροποιούταν περίπου στα 3.8-3.9Ghz λόγο των 65W TDP. Στα 4.65Ghz έχω δει 100-110W και 82C μετά από ώρες σε stress με την Arctic Freezer 36.
Στην εικόνα παρακάτω βλέπετε την διαφορά μεταξύ stock/overclock, σε Cinebench R23 από 12828 σε 15164 (19% βελτίωση).
Τον χρησιμοποιώ εδώ και 9 μήνες, δεν μπορώ να κάνω σύγκριση με τον παλιό σε games γιατί μαζί άλλαξα και την κάρτα γραφικών. Στο Blender VSE όμως η διαφορά είναι τεράστια για 1440p editing, μπορεί όχι μόνο να κάνει playback 1440p/60fps realtime αλλά και 1440p/120fps, χρειάζεται να προστεθούν αρκετά πράγματα για να αρχίσει το lag. Στην δεύτερη εικόνα φαίνεται το performance στο Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 στην περιοχή με τα περισσότερα NPC, ο 5700X στα 4.65Ghz φτάνει σε ~60% φορτίο, αυτό σημαίνει ότι ένας εξαπύρινος επεξεργαστής όπως 5600 θα έφτανε στα όριά του σε μία τέτοια κατάσταση με 90%+ utilization.
Άλλη μεγάλη διαφορά με τον παλιό επεξεργαστή είναι ότι ο 5700X ακόμα και κατά την διάρκεια stress test / rendering ανταποκρίνεται 100% σε απλή χρήση πχ browsing/file transfer και γίνεται να τρέξει και βαριά παιχνίδια με μία αισθητή πτώση στις επιδόσεις (πχ KCD2 κατά της διάρκεια πολύωρου render).
