Thasos is a place blessed with natural resources and natural beauty. Forests, mineral wealth, marbles, and more recently the beaches, have historically attracted people primarily motivated by the exploitation of its natural wealth.

The signs in the landscape are many, ancient mining tunnels and holes, ancient towers guarding the coasts, remnants of last century's mines, modern quarries, coastal tourist hubs.

This map, created with the support and collaboration of the Thasos Environmental Movement, encourages us to approach the island as explorers and hikers, to discover trails through magnificent forests and cool streams with waterfalls and pools, to swim in natural marble pools, to visit picturesque inland villages, and to appreciate all that nature generously offers us without consuming it.
