The new book by Kostas Chrysogonos (in collaboration with AKRITAS KAIDATZIS, CHRYSAS KOURANTIDIS, and VASILIS TSIGARIDAS) is aimed not only at the legal community of our country but also at every citizen who is concerned about its trajectory in the era of memoranda.
It constitutes the condensed expression of the author’s anxiety about this trajectory, which threatens to lead us to the submersion of the Constitution. The memorandum-induced tempest brings about the holocaust of social and economic rights at the altar of fiscal emergency and the (supposed) avoidance of chaotic bankruptcy and exit from the Eurozone.
At the same time, however, the substantive content of political rights is also sacrificed, as their exercise proves ineffective in influencing the pursued policy. Individual rights remain, but even their erosion may simply be a matter of time...
