Because I have "necessarily" had to use some TP-LINK TL-SM5310-T in some installations instead of SFP+ Fiber modules, DAC, etc., I must emphasize that in general SFP+ 10G RJ45 Modules reach crazy temperatures. You need to be a bit careful. Some get hotter and some less so, depending on how efficient they are, depending on the chip they use, and depending on their overall consumption according to specifications, 1.9W, 2.5W, etc. However, all SFP+ 10G RJ45 (or otherwise SFP+ 10G Copper) modules get very hot. Even TP-Link mentions in the instructions that they should not be placed next to each other or one above the other. Only diagonally if they are above and below, only with space between them if they are in a row, and only one if there are only two slots. Especially in the summer with heatwaves, if the switch is not in an air-conditioned space with controlled temperature, there may be an issue with overheating of the Module or even the Switch (especially if the switch has passive cooling), which can cause problems either to the Module or the switch. There is generally tolerance to temperatures by their construction, but obviously during a heatwave the situation can get a bit out of hand. To give an example, during a heatwave and with an ambient temperature of 30 degrees (when the air conditioning was off), the module reached 93c. I was forced to put small heatsinks on the protruding part of the Module and two USB powered small Noctua Fans to blow on them, to bring their temperature down to 70c so I could be a bit more comfortable.

Κάποια ανεβάζουν περισσότερη θερμοκρασία και κάποια λιγότερη, ανάλογα του πόσο efficient είναι, ανάλογα του chip που φοράνε και ανάλογα της κατανάλωσης που έχουν γενικότερα βάσει προδιαγραφών, 1.9W, 2.5W κτλ. Όπως και να έχει όμως όλα τα SFP+ 10G RJ45 (ή αλλιώς SFP+ 10G Copper) modules ζεματάνε. Ακόμα και η TP-Link αναφέρει στις οδηγίες ότι δεν πρέπει να τοποθετούνται το ένα δίπλα στο άλλο ή το ένα πάνω από το άλλο. Μόνο διαγώνια αν είναι πάνω και κάτω, μόνο με κενό ανάμεσα τους αν είναι στην σειρά και μόνο 1 αν υπάρχουν μόνο 2 slots. Ειδικά το καλοκαίρι με τους καύσωνες αν το switch δεν βρίσκεται σε κλιματιζόμενο χώρο με ελεγχόμενη θερμοκρασία, μπορεί να υπάρξει θέμα με υπερθέρμανση του Module ή και του Switch (ειδικά αν το switch είναι με passive cooling) κάτι που μπορεί να δημιουργήσει προβλήματα είτε στο Module είτε στο switch. Υπάρχει γενικά ανοχή στις θερμοκρασίες από την κατασκευή τους, αλλά προφανώς σε περίοδο καύσωνα ξεφεύγει λίγο η κατάσταση. Για να δώσω ένα παράδειγμα, σε καύσωνα και σε θερμοκρασία περιβάλλοντος στους 30 βαθμούς (όταν έσβηνε το κλιματιστικό), το module έφτανε στους 93c. Αναγκάστηκα να βάλω μικρά Heatsinks στο μέρος του Module που προεξέχη και δυο USB powered μικρά Noctua Fans να τα φυσάνε, για να ρίξω την θερμοκρασία τους στους 70c για να είμαι λίγο πιο άνετος.
