Sandalwood, scientifically known as Santalum album, is a small, evergreen tree that reaches a height of 9m, belonging to the Santalaceae family. The sandalwood is the complete wood where the tree deposits secondary metabolic products—in this case, its fragrant, thick yellow oil. The best wood comes from trees over 60 years old.

The essential oil of sandalwood is obtained through steam distillation and has the aroma of aged wood. The main molecules of its chemotypical composition are Sesquiterpenols 70%: cadinene, balsamol, cadinol, and caryophyllene, substances with exceptional therapeutic effects. They provide significant relaxing and calming properties.
