Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia) is a small tree belonging to the citrus family, native to Asia, with main production areas in southern France and southern Italy. The essential oil of Bergamot is derived from the cold pressing of the raw peel of the fruit and has a yellowish to brown-green color with a pleasant and refreshing aroma, dominated by sweet, lemony, and cool notes.

Bergamot essential oil has various therapeutic properties. It is the first choice for treating urinary tract infections, is a powerful disinfectant, and has antiseptic properties that make it useful for ulcers, eczema, herpes, and psoriasis. It also regulates appetite and is particularly beneficial for the skin, especially oily and acne-prone skin.

• For reducing irritability: Mix equal parts of Bergamot, Chamomile, and Orange essential oils.

• For nervousness: Mix 3 parts Lavender essential oil, 2 parts Neroli, and 1 part Bergamot.
