In the adaptation and standardization of the Self Perception Profiles questionnaires for use with Greek students, I must emphasize that Evi Makri-Botsari paid particular attention to two key issues, which are considered critical in the standardization process of a questionnaire. The first issue is its cultural appropriateness and the second is its psychometric properties, specifically reliability and validity. The author addressed both of these issues with sensitivity and care, and she is commendable for her effort to create valid and reliable questionnaires suitable for the Greek student population. I consider this remark particularly important, as it cannot be taken for granted that a questionnaire is suitable for use in countries other than the one for which it was designed (for example, the Self Perception Profiles questionnaires are not suitable for use in Asian countries, as evidenced by attempts to transfer them to China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea).

This carefully crafted Greek edition of these psychometric tools will prove particularly useful in many areas: research, educational assessment, clinical diagnosis, and the evaluation of intervention programs.
