During the adaptation and standardization of the Self Perception Profiles questionnaires for use with Greek students, I must emphasize that Evy Makri-Botsari paid special attention to two key issues, which are considered critical in the process of standardizing a questionnaire.
The first issue is its cultural appropriateness, and the second its psychometric properties, specifically reliability and validity. The author sensitively and carefully addressed both of these issues, and she deserves commendation for the effort she made to create valid and reliable questionnaires suitable for the Greek student population.
I consider this remark particularly important, as it cannot be taken for granted that a questionnaire is suitable for use in countries other than the one for which it was developed (for example, the Self Perception Profiles questionnaires are not suitable for use in Asian countries, as shown by the attempts to transfer them to China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea).
The carefully crafted Greek edition of these specific psychometric tools will prove to be particularly useful in many areas: research, educational assessment, clinical diagnosis, and the evaluation of intervention programs.
