Euphrasia is primarily used by healers for eye disorders and infections (externally) and for addressing respiratory problems (internally). In the first case, it is used either as a compress or as an eye wash. It is considered particularly effective in cases of eye infections, conjunctivitis, stinging of the eyes with discharge, blepharitis, light sensitivity, and cataracts.

The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of Euphrasia are due to the phenolic-carboxylic acids it contains. Internal use of Euphrasia (infusion) is believed to relieve nasal congestion, sinusitis, and positively affect all congestive conditions of the respiratory system.

Euphrasia can also be used as a mouthwash (rinse or gargle) for inflammation and infections of the mouth and throat.

Euphrasia contains glycosides, saponins, tannins, volatile oil, Vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as traces of copper and zinc.

To prepare an infusion, use 1-2 teaspoons of the dried herb in a cup of boiling water (up to 3 times a day).
