The devil's claw, Harpagophytum procumbens, belongs to the family Pedaliaceae. It is a creeping herbaceous perennial plant with a sturdy central root, irregular gray-green leaves, and trumpet-shaped flowers in red, purple, and pink colors.
The fruits are woody, ovoid, and contain brown and black seeds. It thrives in lowland areas and has a traditional use for addressing various health issues, such as pain from osteoarthritis, which is observed to decrease with its use.
