Bermuda Grass (Cynodon dactylon)
Seed quantity: 30 g/sq.m.
Ideal sowing time: from late March to late September.
Highly drought-resistant, spreads through stolons as well as rhizomes. Dormant in winter and rebounds in spring. It shares the same advantages and disadvantages as Kikuyu Grass. It can be used for creating all types of lawns, mainly for public use, resistant to harsh environmental conditions (minimal watering, brackish water, high temperatures, wear resistance).
Requires low mowing and frequent thinning with vertical cuts, performs exceptionally well in coastal areas.
Useful tips for lawn installation:
- The lawn is a key part of most gardens. All lawns require soils with very good drainage and aeration.
- Remove existing weeds from the area where the new lawn will be planted, using a herbicide.
- After weed removal, add balanced fertilizer with microelements (40 g/sq.m) and sand in case the soil is too heavy.
- Install the irrigation system. Level the soil with a rake and then water. Let the soil dry for two days.
- After selecting the appropriate seed based on the season, scatter it after mixing with sand. Then go over it with a rake to slightly bury the seed and level the surface.
- After sowing, water for 10 minutes every 12 hours for a week, ensuring the soil remains adequately moist.
- When the grass begins to grow, start reducing watering. During the summer months, avoid frequent watering as the lawn is sensitive to diseases.
- Applying fungicide once a month is essential as a preventive measure against various infestations.
