This book aims to investigate and depict the institutional framework of social work, to identify potential areas for improvement, and to highlight the role of the social worker in the modern welfare state.
The work is not only addressed to legal professionals and theoretical scholars of the subject, but also serves as an essential study for social workers themselves, in order to fully understand their critical role and contribution.
The goal of the study is to present the existing legislative framework, the general and specific regulations concerning the professional rights and duties of social workers, and subsequently to connect the current legal provisions with the areas of action of social workers and their services.
Specifically, in the first part, all the critical concepts are presented systematically and understandably, and the fundamental principles and rights that social work as a guiding profession has are analyzed, considering the human-centered nature and the social function of the profession within a social state.
In the second part, the central idea is the contribution of the social worker to the protection against social risks, as well as to the safeguarding of legal rights.
An important aspect of this work is the effort to formulate practically applicable ways to evolve the institutional framework towards promoting the social mission of the social worker, which aligns with the social goals of the state and the mission of the social protection system.
