Her blue eyes, ever-moving, sometimes hid behind the fiery blonde curls of her bangs that she would push back with the back of her right hand, and sometimes they sparkled with joy as she greeted us with a smile. They had the same color as her father's eyes. They weren't black or brown by Greek standards: her entire form had that light hue often found in many areas of Evros far from the shores, which always made her stand out.

As soon as she saw us kids, she would call us to sit next to her and begin to tell her endless stories from her adventurous life, just as you will learn from her through the pages of her book.
