Micropolitics and parapolitics, propaganda and intimidation, partyocracy and corruption, `democratic` one-way streets and coercive false dilemmas, scandalous liquidation of public wealth and generous privatizations, violence and opportunism, delinquency and impunity, lack of meritocracy and superficial evaluation, working medievalism and unemployment, archaic ailments and ideological fanaticism, partisanship and individualism, university asylum; ASYLUM OF THE INCURABLE: problems are incubated, cultivated, exacerbated, and prolonged within the framework of the operation of the modern Greek state, which, with its inadequacies and the lack of genuine will to resolve them, functions `institutionally` like an asylum that shelters ailments, sustains them, and empowers them instead of healing them.

No matter how far back one looks in time, one encounters the same intractable problems, the same ideological divides, which reappear with vigor, despite the passage of time and the replacement of individuals in key positions. The concerns of this volume, although prompted by current events, are interconnected with chronic socio-political pathologies, rendering the essays that address them timeless.
