Technical Capabilities of FTA-850L

The FTA-850L offers all the features a safety-oriented pilot needs during flight: 6W AM communication capabilities in the VHF band, ILS navigation for perfect approach, VOR navigation for wide orientation, and of course GPS with a 66-channel receiver. All these features are housed in a durable polycarbonate case, built and tested according to MIL-STD-810H standards. The FTA-850L is waterproof according to IPX5 standards.

The 2.4" color display shows all necessary information very clearly and easily. The new "Dual Frequency Display" function allows quick switching between two COM channels. For navigation, a radio channel and the corresponding NAV display are shown. The good readability of the screen is complemented by the high intelligibility of the audio signal. The amplifier offers 800mW output power - enough to understand radio traffic even in noisy environments. A new feature of the FTA-850L is Bluetooth, which allows operation with wireless headsets, such as the optional SSM-BT10 from Yaesu.

The channel layout naturally supports operation with 8.33 kHz steps. For perfect organization, up to 400 memory channels can be assigned and labeled with alphanumeric names. The 66-channel GPS receiver uses the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and offers very high accuracy. Of course, the GPS signal can also be recorded (position logger). The extensive accessories offer safety in all situations - both in terms of power supply and connection options with a flight headset.
