This router stands out for the simplicity of its software and the multitude of features it has. The advantages of acquiring it are numerous, and for many, the most important is the easy management - monitoring of each device on the network. The main disadvantage, which applies to all Ubiquiti products, is the price. If you plan to "build" or upgrade a network, whether wired or wireless, you should consider it.

It was purchased to replace an existing Ubiquiti Dream Router, which is rated at approximately 700 Mbps throughput and cannot deliver full gigabit from a gigabit connection due to CPU bottleneck.

Although not listed in the specifications here, it has 3 WAN ports and supports load balancing and failover WAN. One of the 3 WAN ports is 2.5G and the other 2 are 10G (SFP).

In a home installation, with 3 different VLANs (Main, Guest, and IoT), it doesn't lag anywhere. It handles all the traffic and its CPU usage is 20-30%. It delivers the full gigabit without any bottlenecks. Note: with IPS/DPI enabled, I had around 800 Mbps throughput, but this is solved with the latest version of UniFi OS, which greatly improves traffic handling from the 2.5G WAN port. I recommend to those who have it or are going to buy it and have Gbit+ connections, to immediately upgrade UniFi OS and the Network app to the latest versions.

In terms of installation and configuration, it is quite user-friendly for users with minimal or moderate networking knowledge. The initial setup is done through the Ubiquiti app on a mobile device, which recognizes it as a new device as soon as it is powered on and starts the setup process. Alternatively, one can set it up easily through a computer and cable.

Its packaging includes a mounting bracket for a rack, which I used to securely mount it vertically on the wall.

The touch screen is theoretically useless since the information it provides is minimal compared to what one can see on their mobile or PC through the network app, where they can view performance and connection logs in more detail.

Overall, it is a great switch with many features, noob-friendly, and plays well with the Ubiquiti ecosystem in a plug & play style. It may be overly expensive for home use, but you get what you pay for. It is feature-rich, doesn't lag anywhere, has a user-friendly interface for every user regardless of experience, and offers a comprehensive solution for someone who wants to set up an IoT environment in their home.
