Description

To provide a supreme model for the struggling human being, to show that he should not fear pain, temptation, and death, because all of these can be conquered, they have all been conquered, this book was written.

Christ suffered, and since then pain has become holy; He fought, until the last moment, against the Temptation trying to deceive Him, and the Temptation was defeated; Christ was crucified, and since then death has been conquered. Every obstacle in His path became a reason and a milestone of victory; we now have a model before us, which opens the way and gives us courage.

This book is not a biography, it is a confession of the struggling human being. By publishing it, I fulfilled my duty; the duty of a man who struggled greatly, suffered deeply in his life, and hoped intensely.

I am certain that every free person who reads this book, filled with love, will love Christ more than ever, better than ever.

The novels of his mature period are: The Life and Times of Alexis Zorba, Captain Michalis, The Last Temptation, Christ Recrucified, Tonda Ramba, The Rock Garden, The Poor Man of God, Brother-Fighters. As well as his historical autobiographical work: Report to Greco.

Also available are the novels from the youthful period of Nikos Kazantzakis: Serpent and Lily, Broken Souls.
