The fifth volume of the series "Logoi" by the inspired Elder Paisios of Mount Athos. The previous volumes, which we have previously mentioned in this column, have achieved great publishing success, as the profound words of wisdom from the God-bearing elder bring comfort to all of us. The 331 pages of this beautifully designed volume are divided into two sections, each with four parts and a total of 25 chapters.
In the first section titled "The Struggle against our Passions," in the first part, the elder analyzes the mother of passions, self-love, and its consequences. In the second part, he discusses the root of evil, pride, and its consequences. In the third part, he talks about the great injustice of condemnation, and in the fourth part, he discusses the children of self-love and pride: jealousy and anger.
In the second section titled "The Cultivation of Virtues," the elder analyzes in the first part the virtue of humility, in the second part, the love for one's neighbor and God, in the third part, the lordship of God and ambition, and in the fourth part, he discusses the children of love and humility: simplicity, faith, hope in God, patience, and discernment. At the end of the volume, indexes of hagiographic and patristic passages, liturgical and hymnological texts, and terms and concepts are published.
The book is introduced by the abbess of the sacred hermitage, nun Philothei.
