In international law, democracy was until very recently absent. Despite calls made in the early 20th century, it has always viewed democracy as an ideology in which it should not get involved. After the end of the Cold War and the victory of liberal democracy, democracy has strengthened at the international level. It has exerted considerable pressure on international law to adapt to the new requirements of political realities.
This work addresses this topic and shows the context in which democracy and the concept of democratic intervention have developed.
