However, on Earth -22, he is tainted when nanotoxicities from the Joker's heart are released into Batman's bloodstream, causing a merger of the Dark Knight's perfect mind with the distorted soul of the Clown Prince of Crime. He soon transforms into his final form, the Laughing Batman, and becomes part of an effort to plunge the entire Multiverse into excessive violence, chaos, and absolute darkness.
