Description

Description

The Crucial DDR5 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR5

DDR5 is the fifth generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR4 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 3200MT/s to 12600MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL 28 to CL 48, while its capacity has increased up to 64GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Crucial DDR5 RAM provides speed at 4800MT/s, with CL40 and 16 GB memory.

Compatibility

DDR5 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR5 is compatible with Alder Lake, Raptor Lake, and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR5 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM modules, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 has (XMP 3.0/EXPO) profiles with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 3.0): 4800 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 3.0): 40-39-39
  • Voltage (XMP 3.0): 1.1V

Cooling & Design

The low operating voltage of 1.1V combined with the memory height of 31.25mm, which is an ideal size to fit large CPU coolers, helps keep the memory at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

  • Worked just fine. It cost €43.60 in December 2024 when I bought it. Today, buying it feels like a joke. You must really need it badly to buy it; otherwise, you must feel like a big m....

  • I upgraded a Gigabyte Aorus 15 BSF to 64GB. After I opened the laptop, the screen stayed black for a few minutes, then it recognized them by itself and opened normally. So don't panic in case it doesn't turn on immediately.

  • It works great with the HP Omen 16 wf0455ng ;-) I only put in one 32GB, since in DDR5 it is dual channel even with a single dimm, so I have space for a second one ;-)

  • 2x16 - 32gb
It was installed in an Asus ROG Strix G18 with an Intel i7-13650hx (from 16gb to 32gb) due to the CPU limitation that operates at a maximum of 4800. Additionally, the Asus motherboard supports up to 32gb. So I ended up with these. They haven't presented any problems so far and they function normally. The 13th generation i9 can handle even higher clock speeds. Nevertheless, it's a decent set for the money you pay (95€), as DDR5 SODIMM RAM is still quite expensive, especially for sets of 64gb or higher clock speeds. The choice was made because 16gb definitely aren't sufficient for demanding tasks and gaming; they operate at 70-85%.
