Description

On the front lines of war, inside a tent, he recorded his thoughts, giving himself advice, encouraging himself with the power of philosophy. Aiming to remain consistent with the ideas he had embraced since his youth, to endure difficulties, not to be swept away by the torrent of events, not to become an ordinary person of power, but to remain what he was: a philosopher-emperor.

He did not intend to publish them. He wrote to keep himself strong. He did not believe in posthumous fame. He didn’t even believe that anyone would remember him. However, he was proven wrong. Eighteen centuries have passed since then, and the MEDITATIONS still live on. They have seen countless editions, have been cherished and praised by many writers as the inexhaustible source of wisdom. As the "eternal gospel," as Renan characterized them.

A book that can be characterized as self-improvement. The personal notes of Marcus Aurelius, the only Roman Emperor who was also a Stoic philosopher. They were not written to be published or to build a legacy. It was his way to unload his mind, to put his thoughts in order, and to remind himself of his principles.
The book is easy to read. You can read 5-10 pages a day for the rest of your life. This way, you will return again and again to the same passages at different stages of your life. Each time you will find something new, because you change as well. We live in an era where we generally need a little stoic slap.
There are many editions; this one is in modern Greek, without lengthy ancient texts or written in polytonic.
