You take on the role of a veteran soldier from the Third Crusade of the Middle Ages, Dante, who travels to hell to save his beloved Beatrice. There, guided by Virgil (the spirit of an old poet), our hero will try to purify the soul of his betrothed, but also to defeat great demons, such as Death (the game's first big boss), the judge of the dead Minos, the narcissistic Cleopatra, and the great lord of darkness Lucifer.
