The MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect the internal components of the reel and ensure smooth rotation, developed by NASA. 

This liquid seal was initially used for the internal operation of hard drives – providing dust sealing but not waterproofing. Daiwa engineers took on the challenge of creating a waterproof oil to control the intensity of the magnetic force. The technology has been tested in water with the world's leading experts in every scientific field having proven gains in rotational smoothness. 

The ATD brake has discs impregnated with special grease that optimizes the brake's energy efficiency. This grease has greater adhesion at startup, offering a more stable and progressive brake. Thus, the risk of breakage during the fight is minimized thanks to the more precise brake response, which adapts to each phase of the battle: it engages faster and more gradually at startup and offers better retention at its core.
It automatically adapts to the different constraints in each phase of the fight, hence its name Automatic Tournament Drag. With the Daiwa ATD brake, be ready for calmer, better-controlled battles. The tightening of the brake knob is more precise, and the internal base of the spool fits better on the shaft to eliminate play during brake release.

The bodies and rotors of Daiwa are made from Zaion, an exclusive high-density carbon with anti-corrosive properties that is lighter and harder than magnesium. The engineers at Zaion set out to create a material that was as hard as metal but as light as carbon. Conventional wisdom holds that an aluminum reel offers hardness while polycarbonate is required to make a lightweight body and rotor. ZAION is a fusion of these two properties. While ordinary carbon is made from nylon 6-6 resin and 20% carbon fibers, ZAION has double the density of carbon fibers. The result is a unique material that is as strong as magnesium. A ZAION body is 25% lighter than its magnesium counterpart and 50% lighter than aluminum!

This technology is an evolution of "Digigear" that allows precise machining of the control wheel, providing it with a superior contact surface in order to increase the durability and fluidity of the mechanics.
