The Phytophyl Entomela insect attractant draws flies and ants and is used to trap and reduce populations of the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae) and the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata). It contains 25.5% urea and 75% hydrolysed proteins and is suitable for use in organic farming. Its highly water-soluble molasses dissolves in water and can be used in small or hard-to-reach olive groves.
For use in traps, dilute with twice its volume of water: add 2 litres of water to 1 litre of Entomela. The solution can preferably be used with the ELKOFON 750 and ELKOFON 1000 traps. For bait spraying on olive trees, use a solution containing 2% Entomela, 98% water and an insecticide for the olive fruit fly, applying 3 litres per hectare to one in every three trees. The liquid insect attractant can be combined with approved insecticides.
