Description

The work of the philosopher of autonomy, Cornelius Castoriadis, with its unusually broad scope, makes him one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. Perhaps the primary reason for people involved in social movements to actively engage with Castoriadis' thought is his revolutionary political proposal. Contrasting with the main schools of thought, he highlighted the factor of the imaginary and self-institution in the core of human society.

We publish this small book to continue the dialogue with the timelessly radical thought of the philosopher, adding our small contribution to the existing bibliography of his many important works. We believe that in these three rare interviews, as well as in most of his other works, Castoriadis offers valuable food for reflection that can enrich our own political thought. As always, he invites us to think beyond ideological dogmas, ready-made plans, and authorities. He invites us to actively seek the democratic pathways of autonomy.

Contents

〉 Interview with Cornelius Castoriadis at Agora International (1990)

〉 Autonomy is a continuous process (in Radical Philosophy, 1990)

〉 If there is to be a democratic Europe (Acta, 1993)
