Description

The latest edition of the guide to the archaeological site of the Agora - the political and economic center of ancient Athens - serves as an extremely useful aid for visitors with a special interest, as well as for students studying the topography of the classical city.

The book includes a large-scale map of the area, with numbering that refers to the description and plans of all the visible monuments today, from the magnificent Temple of Hephaestus to the functional 'Great Drain'. The fifth edition retains many of the elements that made previous editions so popular, while also taking into account all the new discoveries and findings from recent scientific research.

The guide is aimed at visitors to the archaeological site, and the description of the monuments is done in topographical order. The reader will also find here an overview of the historical development of the Ancient Agora and a brief history of the excavations.
